7 tips for preparing for the exam

Soon, the exam session and the project StudioBase wants to share with you your thoughts and tricks on how to prepare and take exams.

1. How to memorize the rules
The easiest way to improve the memorization of rules is to use mnemosomes. For example, you probably remember the phrase “Every Hunter Wants to Know Where to Sit Pheasant” or “Bisectris is a rat that runs around the corners and divides the angle into halves.” And here’s an example of a verse that will help remember the first 8 signs of the number Pi: ”We only need to try and remember everything as is: Three, fourteen, fifteen, ninety two and six.” Try to come up with your own option.

As you probably remember, memory is divided into: visual, auditory and motor. The more memory we use when storing, the better. Present (imagine) what is said in the rule, pronounce it aloud several times, write the rule by hand.

2. How easy it is to remember the read
Browse the whole text quickly, grab the highlights. Then reconsider the text carefully, draw sketches on paper. Break the text into blocks and squeeze them to the point. Make a brief note. Be sure to visualize everything that is spoken in the text. Visual images, especially if they cause emotions, are remembered best.

Then you have to repeat the read (it is possible in an outline) and best of all at certain intervals of time. According to the Abbingause curve, the optimum intervals for repetitions are: 20 minutes, 24 hours, 4 days, 7 days, etc. This technique is called “Interval repetitions” and it is very important for securing information in long-term memory.

3. How to quickly memorize numbers and dates
It is enough to encode a digit or date into a particular visual image and associate it with an event or other information. For example, digits can be encoded using images: 1 – pencil, 2 – swan, 3 – grater, 4 – chair, 5 – palm, etc. The year can be imagined, for example, in the image of a person 45 – Hitler, 90 – Gorbachev, etc.

Now you need to combine the invented image for a date or a digit with the information you need with imagination, for this there are many mammoths. One of the most popular, Cicero method or location method is: select a sequence of places familiar to us (indoors or outdoors), and then place our images consistently on the terrain. At the exam, we reproduce in the imagination the same sequence. Our brain is better suited for memorizing visual information and terrain than accurate data and formulas.

4. How to memorize foreign words
We pick up a sound similar to the one we want to learn. And we connect the two images into one picture or story. For example: “pillow – pillow = Saw a saw pillow” in the imagination, or “tree – tree = represent three trees”. We must necessarily pronounce the word several times aloud and write (can be mentally) by hand.

Do not forget about interval repeats! For those who want to raise the learning of new words to a new level, there is a free Anki application for Android, iOS and other platforms that allows you to repeat words in time.

5. How to save time
If there is an opportunity to buy ready-made control and courseware, then it’s better to do it. The time spent on gathering information (searching and copying from the Internet, we will be honest), it is better to spend on repetition of the material. Your work will eventually be dusting in the archive.

In addition, the finished work can be obtained instantly and will cost them much cheaper written to order.

6. How to prepare for the exam
Teaching something over the night before the exam is not the best idea. Before the exam, it’s best to have a good sleep. It is fast to repeat the material better in the morning, even when it is not long before even a few hours leads to a significant decrease in the working capacity of our memory and the deterioration of concentration.

For effective brain work, he needs “fuel” – glucose. Therefore, one hour before the exam, we advise you to drink a glass of water and eat 100g of black chocolate (necessarily black).

7. How to pass the exam
It is necessary to keep calm. When we are nervous, we often forget even what we remember well. If necessary, you can drink soothing tea from Melissa or Valerian.

If you feel power, go the last. It is good to go first to the laggards and troechnikov. The teacher with fresh forces will not “fill up” them immediately and put two, but will try to “pull out knowledge”. It’s better to give the best to the end, when the teacher will be tormented by the thought: is there in this group the one to whom I can make a normal assessment?

Studio Studa wishes you good luck on the exams, hope our tips will be useful to you.
